Reduce the home’s energy bills with a simple building retrofit.
Many homes across Europe are naturally ventilated with air bricks. This air flow is essential in the home, but is responsible for a large proportion of a home’s heat loss.
Airex has created the world’s first smart air brick to reduce the home’s energy bills, helping to end fuel poverty and climate change with a simple building retrofit. The Airex system currently provides 12% savings and has a return on investment of 2-3 years.
Air bricks are bricks with multiple holes to allow air to flow in the home, either at sub-floor level or within the habitable space to prevent damp and mould. However, always open air bricks can cause cold, uncomfortable draughts and mean that up to 15% of the energy used to heat a home is wasted.
The AirEx brick is a smart ventilation control system that replaces existing air bricks. The AirEx bricks have in-built sensors to measure the environmental conditions (such as temperature, relative humidity and indoor air quality) and use smart software algorithms to automatically regulate airflow.
Each brick opens to reduce humidity and prevent mould and damp, and closes to reduce heat loss and improve thermal comfort. Furthermore, the real time data collected from its smart sensors reduces the risk of unnoticed damp damages in the property by providing automatic alerts.
Improves thermal efficiency, so rooms warm up faster and stay warm longer.
Removes unwanted draughts, improving airtightness and occupant's thermal comfort.
Helps homeowners save on heating bills by using 10-15% less energy.
Ensures good air quality, mitigating the risk of condensation, timber rot and mould.
Installation is quick, simple, and hassle-free, it should take between one and two hours in most homes.
Installing the Airex hub is as simple as connecting it to your internet router with vents paired easily using the Airex dashboard. Installing the vents themselves is straightforward for a competent DIYer with masonry skills. For those less confident, a local handyman or tradesperson can assist.
Once up and running, Airex does not require any interaction to operate or to be beneficial – it is simply fit and forget.
